The Global Mobile Games Industry – Making Order out of Chaos

In 2005 UK based research group the Multimedia Research Consultancy (TMRC) were looking for a comprehensive list of Mobile Games Developers. Not only was there not a complete (or even close to complete) list, but no-one who we spoke to in the industry appeared to have a clear idea of how big that list might be.

However, it was generally agreed that a Global Database of the Mobile Games industry would be a very useful and valuable source of information

The upshot was that TMRC set out to produce the definitive global database of actively trading Mobile Games Developers, Aggregator-Distributors, Publishers and Portals (DAPPs).

Global, Comprehensive, Up-to-date!

The original DAPPs database was launched in March 2007 and a completely updated and expanded database is now available with a wide range of improvements:

  • all previous records have been checked and revised

  • many new sources have been identified

  • a comprehensive review of the latest industry developments has been included

  • the breadth and depth of data collected has been expanded to cover Platforms, Operating Systems and Gaming specialisms

  • in response to requests we now offer the database in two versions:

    (i) The Essential Contacts
    (ii) The Full Profiles

Extensive

As at December 2007 a global total of no less than 1,970 actively trading Mobile Games enterprises had been identified – around two to three times more than was popularly supposed – and eclipsing the coverage offered by all known rival sources. TMRC's research also reveals that the Mobile Games' ecosystem is a truly global phenomenon, with enterprises operating in 93 countries

Keep up-to-date with the DAPPs Database

We will be updating this database regularly - if you want to sign up for the latest news on DAPPs Database developments please click here.

Choose the Database version you need

We offer maximum flexibility to meet your needs so in response to requests we offer the global database in a choice of two versions:

(i) The Essential Contacts

This version of the database
would be ideal for those companies interested in identifying and making contact with Mobile Games DAPPs either by email, post or telephone.

(ii) The Full Profiles

This is an enhanced version of the database which would be ideal for those companies who, in addition to wanting to identify and make contact with the Mobile Games DAPPs, wish to obtain insights into enterprises' platform and mobile games specialisms, corporate status, the number of years active in mobile games and so on.

Why have Mobile Games become so important?

In 2002 Mobile Games were considered no more than an irrelevant sideshow by the mainstream games community. Today, however, Mobile Games are emerging as a serious contender in the market place, with many predicting that their revenues will mount a serious challenge to Console, PC, Mac, Handheld and Online Games in the medium to long term.
